Job Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Administrator responsible for effective and efficient payroll administration. The incumbent will support HR, Operations and the Head Office Payroll Team, and perform the full payroll function from processing, verifying and reconciling of pay information taking into account Legislation, Company Policy and Audit Requirements.

Responsibilities

  1. Performing the full payroll function from processing, verifying and reconciling of pay information taking into account Legislation, Company Policy and Audit Requirement.
  2. Performing various reconciliations which includes the National Bargaining Council Leave versus the Sage300 People balance.
  3. Ensuring accurate payment of salaries and wages.
  4. Preparation of a detailed analytical review of the salaries for the pay period.
  5. Explaining material variances from prior to current month.
  6. Provide support to the Payroll Supervisor.
  7. Internal/external audit preparation.
  8. Other adhoc payroll-related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualification & Experience:

  1. Grade 12 / Matric
  2. Bookkeeping / Accountancy / Payroll Certificate or Diploma
  3. At least 5 years in a same or similar role
  4. At least 3 years processing payroll using SAGE300 People
  5. Knowledge / Exposure to the National Bargaining Council Collective Agreement for the Road Freight Industry is an advantage
  6. Experience with Africa payrolls and legislation is advantageous

Skills & Attributes:

  1. Strong payroll principals, computer and payroll system skills
  2. Work independently as well as part of a team
  3. Attention to detail
  4. Working knowledge of all labour legislation
  5. Good understanding and practical knowledge of employees tax and statutory requirements
  6. Ability to co-ordinate and control information from distant regions
