Job Overview

An opportunity has become available for a high caliber Operational Supervisor (Contract Supervisor) Operation. They play a critical role in coordinating activities, ensuring operational efficiency, and supervising a team of employees to achieve operational
goals. Initiates, plans, co-ordinates, motivates and supervises the operational activities in a division of the terminal/depot which could despatch its product by rail, road and pipeline. Ensures that all customers receive efficient, timeous deliveries of products/goods.

Requirements

1. Tertiary qualification in Logistics/ Transportation Management
2. Code EB divers license, EC drivers license an advantage
3. 2 years minimum experience in a senior supervisory position in the Transport Industry
4. 7 year minimum experience in a supervisory position
5. Computer literate and with advance skill in MS Excel
6. Knowledge of NBCRFI Main agreement
7. Technical Knowledge in regards to Tyres and Vehicle Maintenance
8. SHEQ experience in the Transport Industry
9. Familiar with Mix Telematics and DriveCam systems
10. Understanding of transport economics and finances
11. Driven towards achieving production targets and upholding high standards.
12. Able to communicate with, supervise and motivate employees to achieve targets

Responsibilities

1. Overseeing Routing and scheduling of delivery vehicles
2. Briefing/debriefing of Operational staff
3. Conducting multiple daily meetings with client
4. Ensuring fleet is maintained & in the optimal condition to operate/function under operational pressures
5. Ensure that fleet road worthy test are done timeously and vehicles have valid license discs
6. Conducting SHEQ tasks. Toolbox talks, committee meetings, SHE inspections, etc.
7. Liaising with mechanical workshop, the client, suppliers, regional management and head office on a daily basis
8. Supervise on site suppliers
9. Ensuring strict compliance with NBCRFI main agreement
10. Staff wages/overtime control
11. Vehicle fuel consumption monitoring
12. Onsite fuel bowser control
13. Review Mix Telematics reports and take necessary action
14. Coach DriveCam events and take necessary action
15. Ensuring optimal utilization of fleet & staff to meet operational targets
16. Ensuring operations administration is processed accurately and timeously
17. Cost control, reviewing quotes and invoices
18. Monitor of CPKs and review of income statements
19. Supervising day to day activities
